Sapphire Point: Probably one of the most well-known Summit County wedding destinations, Sapphire Point sits atop Swan Mountain Road; a road that straddles between Dillon, CO and Breckenridge, CO. At its essence, Sapphire Point is an overlook off of a popular hiking trail. Parking is located right at the trailhead, but is often full year-round due to its popularity as a tourist destination. To access the point, it is about a five-minute, downhill walk from the parking lot via a dirt footpath. Because of its breathtaking views of the mountains and Lake Dillon and its affordable pricing, Sapphire Point grows in popularity each year. Most commonly used as a wedding ceremony site, guests are able to reserve their date online via the local Forest Service website starting six months in advance. Reservations are available as two-hour time blocks. Because of the short reservation times, the mantra here is “less is more.” Aside from chairs and maybe some umbrellas, there’s not much else that you need! Regardless of the time of year, however, always be sure to encourage practical footwear and have a weather back up. It’s not uncommon to get snow up here through June!
While CTE proudly delivered to this venue for many years, we have decided to no longer offer this service. It was a tough decision, but because of factors such as limited parking, short time frames and unpredictability of the path’s maintenance, delivering to/from this location ultimately outweighed its costs. That being said, we are still here for you as the local vendor! We offer year round customer pick-up/return options of equipment from our warehouse located in Silverthorne, CO; just a 15 minute drive away.
Lake Dillon Pavilion: As the name suggests, the Lake Dillon Pavilion is a well-maintained public park pavilion that sits on the shore of the reservoir. Used most commonly for both wedding ceremonies and receptions, the pavilion offers easy accessibility to the venue, free parking, electricity, picnic tables, surrounding charcoal grills, public restrooms and a fireplace. The venue is owned and operated by the Town of Dillon which also is responsible for the booking of the venue. The site allows for booking times of just a few hours, half-day rentals or full-day rentals. If you decide to book the pavilion for the evening, be sure to discuss the possibility of after-hours fees with your CTE Sales Manager. Don’t want to have to worry about extra fees? Windy Point Campground: One of the most versatile event spaces in Dillon, CO, Windy Point Campground is another super popular wedding venue. Like its counterpart, Sapphire Point, it is maintained and operated by the local Forest Service which accepts reservations for the space online via its website. For weddings and larger events, reserving the campground pavilion and surrounding campgrounds is recommended. This is a beautiful and remote location that is perfect for mountain lovers whose friends and family don’t mind partying out in the elements. The on-site campground comes equipped with grills, built-in tables and wooden picnic tables. There is no electricity, so be sure to secure a generator (or 4) depending on how much power you plan on needing! The pavilion can comfortably seat 100+ guests for dinner and accommodate a modest dance floor space. It’s important to keep in mind that it was named Windy Point for a reason. The pavilion also sits on the shores of Lake Dillon. The wind coming off the water can make for a pretty breezy evening. For this reason, be sure to ask CTE about its custom side wall package. Tailor-made to this location, CTE has the ability to enclose the pavilion. Definitely recommended!
